A nebula is a giant cloud of dust and gass, mainly hydrogen and helium. They are located in the interstellar space which is the space between the stars. They are formed when interstellar medium collapses by gravity and it causes matter to collapse forming areas of more density. Eventually stars can be formed and the radiation from those stars makes the gasses around them visible.
